KCTV5 Tower Relighting
Thursday, 9/18
Look to the North on Thursday evening! After over 20 years in the dark, after a special illumination ceremony on Thursday the Tower will once again brighten the KC skyline. Hopefully, details about the ceremony will be posted on KCTV5's website soon.
Towering over the city since 1955, the 1,042-foot KCTV5 tower has been a familiar landmark and a symbol of Kansas City’s growth and innovation. At the time of its completion in 1956, it was among the tallest broadcast towers in the nation and 18 feet taller than the original height of the Eiffel Tower. In August, the Kansas City Council signed off on a $1.1 million contract using capital improvement funds (part of the Illuminate KC Initiative) for the lighting project, according to city documents. The upgraded lighting system features 96 energy-efficient LED fixtures capable of dynamic displays and color-changing effects, allowing the tower to light up for holidays, special events, and civic celebrations.
KCPS Community Meeting
re: Proposed Reuse of Bryant Elementary
Monday, 9/29 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
In preparation for soliciting proposals for Bryant later this year, KCPS will host another public meeting on September 29th to discuss reuse options for the site. The meeting will take place across the street from the school at the Country Club United Methodist Church (400 W. 57th St.).
KCPS will collect feedback from participants on various reuse options, including teacher housing, and discuss how the existing property use restrictions impact the viability of redevelopment alternatives.

Remember to cast your ballot on or before September 30th!
You can vote at any poll located within the Kansas City city limits, and it's only ONE QUESTION LONG -- whether or not to recall Frank White, Jr. as Jackson County Executive -- so there's no excuse not to do your civic duty!
No-excuse absentee voting opens on September 16; you can vote at the locations listed HERE.
Get more info, check your voter registration status, and view your sample ballot at the KC Election Board's website.
Save these dates!
The CSHA Autumn Dumpster Day will be on Saturday, 10/25, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Details coming soon!
If you're beginning to wonder what to do with the leaves that have already begun to carpet our neighborhood, the City of KCMO will be doing two leaf and brush collections again -- but later than last year -- on 11/7 and 12/19.
We will likely have information for private services you can contact as well, in due course.
Stay tuned!
